Ashenafi Thomas is the Managing Director & CEO of ASHTHO Engineering PLC, a reputed civil construction company in Ethiopia with multi-million dollar turnover. Ashenafi is a dynamic professional having 12 years of experience in the construction sector. He is a Civil Engineer by profession, graduated from Mekelle University and has an extensive knowledge on all levels of Construction and Construction Management. He possesses strong leadership and risk assessment abilities in capitalizing profitable markets and rapid repositioning during down market periods by developing innovative and profitable business solutions.
Ashenafi has an enviable track record of delivering successful projects like Roadways, Bridges, Resettlement villages, Stadium, Schools, Commercial and Residential apartments and villas for the Government and also for Private-Sector for a decade in Ethiopia. His expertise lies in designing projects, understanding multi-faceted business operations, solving complex problems and making effective decisions.
Ashenafi started his career as a Junior Civil Engineer and a Team Leader for Road network development study project of Amhara National Regional State for SABA Engineering PLC. He also worked as a Civil Engineer for Best Consulting Engineers PLC, Office Engineer for World Vision Ethiopia, Project Coordinator for Awash Construction Share Company, Planning / Construction Engineer for KEANGNAM Enterprise LTD and Project Engineer for SUR Construction PLC.
Gaining rich experience at all levels of Construction Industry, Ashenafi dreamt to start his own company in Ethiopia to deliver quality projects that exceed clients' expectations and create job opportunities to the people of Ethiopia. Thus ASHTHO Engineering PLC was formed in the year 2008 under the leadership and guidance of Ashenafi. His vision is that every employee should be given opportunity to grow in his/her career and raise his/her standard of living, thus empowering the population of Ethiopia.
Kassahun Girma Haile
Construction Department Manager
Kassahun Girma Haile joined ASHTHO as a Construction Department Manager and has recorded success in overseeing all phases of multi-million dollar construction, infrastructure and environmental projects for Government and Private- Sector clients. He holds 15 years of experience in the construction sector. He has done his graduation in Construction Technology and Management, Statistics and Computer Science.
His portfolio includes managing all construction activities following project approvals,coordination work with property management,maintain contractor relationship, develop scope of work for projects, determine project requirements, efficient execution of projects, provide value engineering recommendations to achieve budget objectives and ensure timely completion of projects.
Being a strong pillar of ASHTHO, Kassahun is backed by strong credentials and a history of on-time, on-budget and high-quality project completions. He started his career as a Junior Statistician and now rose to a position of Construction Department Head.
Before joining ASHTHO, Kassahun had worked for Satcon Construction PLC, Ethiopian Investment Commission, Genet Construction PLC, Samson Gebreyohannes Building Contractor and Alasab General Transport and Contracting Est.
Endris Abera is a Civil Engineer by profession, graduated from Bahir Dar University with over 10 years of rich experience in civil works and construction sector. As a multi-tasking personnel, Endris coordinates with Site Engineers of each project for the efficient project delivery. He also develops project strategies, attends meetings, and creates a calendar for the site engineers and project managers and many more administrative duties are on his role.
At ASHTHO, he is responsible for meeting construction standards including project construction, quality, and customer service while finding and resolving errors throughout the project’s stages. His expertise includes assisting the Project Managers and Site Engineers with their duties to successfully complete the project, delivery of materials to assist in the project execution, compiling project-specific status reports, coordinate project activities, maintaining project timelines, ensurepolicies and procedures are being applied to meet the company's goals and objectives, establishing and managing work schedules for each project and handling projects with a high level of accuracy.
Before joining ASHTHO, Endris had worked as a Site Engineer for Amhara National Regional State Housing Development Projects, Office Engineer for FAL Trading General Contractor and as a Project Coordinator for TIKS Construction PLC.
Yeshigeta Zeleke Gobena
Finance & Administration Manager
Yeshigeta Zeleke Gobena is a Finance professional and a graduate in Accounting holding more than 15 years of experience in Accounting, Auditing and Finance. Yeshigeta has joined ASHTHO in 2016 and his key management skills include; Tactical Financial Planning, Budgeting & Forecasting, Cost Control & Profit Management, Financial Reporting, Audit Management, Leadership & Supervision, Payroll Management, Bank Negotiations and Accounts Management and Administration.
He started his career as a Budget and Finance Junior Officer for Bati Woreda Rural Development, then he worked as a Stock Controller for S Sara Coffee Export, Internal Auditor and Consultant for Grand Bean Coffee PLC and Senior Accountant and Technical Coffee Export Manager for Almaz Seyoum Coffee Export.
At ASHTHO he leads the finance and administration team.
Procurement & Supply Manager
Senait Thomas has joined ASHTHO as Procurement and Supply Manager. She is a procurement professional with good exposure to construction industry. She possessesa strong work ethic, great communication skills and ability to handle multiple priorities.
At ASHTHO, Senait holds a successful track record in managing procurement in the most effective manner. With her excellent negotiation skills, Senait has developed a good rapport with the sub-contractors and suppliers. She efficiently expedites and schedules delivery of materials and services to project site. Her core activity includes developing and implementing new purchasing strategies and process simplification.
Senait assists in maintaining company’s quality control program, forecasts upcoming demand, manage materials / equipment inventory and time management.
HR & Facility Manager
Mekonnen Wondafrash is a Human Resource professional with 28 years of experience in HR services with focus on resource search. In his previous stint at Satcon Construction PLC, Mekonnen held a position of Administration and Finance Head. He started his career as a Nutrition Team Leader at World University of Canada and then worked as a Senior Program Officer at MSF- Belgium.
At ASHTHO, Mekonnen’s core activity includes, guiding and managing the overall provision of Human Resources services, policies, and programs for the entire company, including recruiting and staffing; organizational and space planning; performance management and improvement systems; new employee orientation and training; policy development and documentation; compensation and benefits administration; wellness and health; and employee services and counselling.
With decades of rich experience, leadership quality, ability to handle and resolve conflict and people management skills, Mekonnen manages and leads the team in a professional, intelligent and results driven manner. He ensures that each project has sufficient human resources, with the correct skill-sets and experience, for the project to be successfully completed. His main responsibility includes enhancing the overall corporate safety culture while helping employees develop their skills, improve their safety awareness and personal responsibility, enhancing productivity, quality of work and building employee confidence.
Haile Melaku is a civil engineer, graduated from Mekelle University, Ethiopia having more than 12 years of working experience in Construction Sector; his expertise includes coordination, implementation, execution, control, completion and handover of projects as per project standards in a timely manner and as per project budget and quality.
Before joining ASHTHO, Haile had worked for Afar Pastoral Community Development Project and OTT Consulting Architects and Engineers. He started his career as a Site Supervisor and rose to the position of a Project Manager.
At ASHTHO, he has handled Tendaho Resettlement Village infrastructure at Derbele village (Lot 10 and Lot 14) Building Project, Housing Development building Project, Addis Ababa, G+4 Commercial Building, Dukem and now handling Dire Dawa Stadium Expansion Project.
Habtamu Tadesse is a Civil Engineer with more than 14 years of experience in the construction sector. He is a graduate from Addis Ababa University in Civil Engineering and Advanced Diploma in Building Engineering.
Habtamu held various positions including Project Engineer, Resident Engineer and Project Manager. He has a long record of delivering complex projects on time and is able to manage the project delivery team through the entire project life cycle.
Before joining ASHTHO, Habtamu had worked for Bekele Sorsa B.C, Fkadu Tekelemariam B.C, GERETTA Consult, STAMP Construction PLC, MURA Construction PLC, EHAKE Construction PLC and SAFER Construction PLC.
Habtamu has handled various projects like West Harerge health Office and Debrebrehan University Projects, Mixed use high rise building, Pharmaceuticals Fund and Supply agency Project, Zebi Der Construction Project, Akaki Gelan Road and Infrastructure Project, Auditorium Project in Bale Robe City and now handling the construction of G+5 Office Building Project in Dire Dawa Administration Construction and Housing Development Bureau at ASHTHO.
